우리는 얼마전 양두구육이라는 4자성어를 잃었다.
양두구육은 '양머리를 내걸어 놓고 실제로는 개고기를 판다'라는 뜻으로 겉은 번지르르하나 속은 변변치 않다는 뜻이다. 오늘날로 치면 '한우'라고 해놓고 '수입산' 쇠고기를 판매하는 것보다도 더 심각한 행위라 할 수 있다.
정치적인 논쟁도 있었으나 반려인 사이에서 변변치 않은 것을 굳이 '개고기'라고 표현한 것이 불편하다는 의견이 나왔다.
지금 Poverty Porn 이라는 상당히 앞으로도 치열하게 토론하고 고민해봐야 되는 용어를 잃는다.
빈곤포르노는 전장연 문제만큼이나 꼭 짚어내야 하는 전근대적 문화다. 사회복지의 넓고 다양한 수요를 일부 방송국과 연계한 빈곤포르노를 앞세운 단체들이 독점하는 지점 때문에라도 언젠가 타파해야되는 지점이다.

한국식 먹방은 외국에서 "Korean Food Porn"이라고 한다. 그러면 먹방 유튜버들이 포르노 배우라는 것인가?
Food Porn이라는 용어 역시 위키피디아에 있고 학술적인 논문으로도 사용되고 있다.

빈곤포르노라는 용어에서 포르노에 꽂힌 분들은 이 오래된 논쟁에 대해 한번도 고민 안해본 사람임을 인증한 것이다. 이성을 찾자.
용어의 선택은 당연히 중요한 문제이다. '빈곤포르노'라는 용어가 자극적이긴 하지만 Poverty porn의 대체 용어가 없다. 영미권에서는 porn이라는 단어를 폭넓게 사용하고 있다. 우리나라에서는 '포르노'의 사용 범위가 좁기 때문에 이와 같은 문제가 발생한 것이다.
Poverty porn, also known as pornography of poverty,[1] development porn, famine porn,[2] or stereotype porn,[3][4] has been defined as "any type of media, be it written, photographed or filmed, which exploits the poor's condition in order to generate the necessary sympathy for selling newspapers, increasing charitable donations, or support for a given cause".[5][6] It also suggests that the viewer of the exploited protagonists is motivated by gratification of base instincts.[7] It is also a term of criticism applied to films that objectify people in poverty for the sake of entertaining a privileged audience.[8][9][10]
